چکیده

In the course of work in the analysis of blood, the authors have employed a number of reagents for the removal of the proteins before proceeding to the determination of other constituents. Two of these, picric acid (1) and nitric acid (2)) appeared to offer peculiar advantages in the subsequent determination of chlorides and other inorganic constituents. However, it was found that the amount of silver chloride that was obtained from volumes of filtrates corresponding to the same amounts of blood was much less when nitric acid was used as the precipitant than when picric acid was so employed. Moreover, the silver precipitate obtained with the latter was always yellow and it retained this color even after prolonged washing with hot water. The color could be removed by washing with concentrated nitric acid but the weight of the residual silver chloride was greater than that of the-precipitate obtained from a nitric acid filtrate corresponding to the same amount of blood. The yellow silver chloride precipitate was not completely soluble in ammonia but left a gelatinous precipitate, suggesting the presence of a purine. The precipitate was filtered out, washed, and suspended in dilute hydrochloric acid. After heating for 30 minutes, the mixture ‘was filtered, the filtrate was almost neutralized and was then treated with sodium acetate, sodium bisulfite, and copper sulfate in the usual manner. The precipitate obtained was filtered out, washed with hot water, and decomposed with hydrogen sulfide. The filtrate from the copper sulfide was evaporated and treated with a little picric acid. On cooling, a lemon-

Cord Blood

Stem cells are naïve or master cells. This means they can transform into special 200 cell types as needed by body, and each of these cells has just one function. Stem cells are found in many parts of the human body, although some sources have richer concentrations than others. Some excellent sources of stem cells, such as bone marrow, peripheral blood, cord blood, other tissue stem cells and ...

Determination of absorbed ratio in I-131 dosimetry using MCNP-4A [Persian]

Determination of the total body absorbed dose consists of two parts: Beta radiation absorbed dose and gamma radiation absorbed dose. The first part is generally determined by clinical data, while the second part has a parameter called absorbed ratio and is determined by computational methods. The Monte-Carlo computational methods have been shown to be the most suita...

RAPD Analysis for Sex Determination in Pistacia vera L.

Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis of Pistacia vera L. was used to distinguishing sex type in progeny plants. Varied genotypes of the pistachio were analyzed by PCR amplification of a ten base primer previously found to be linked to the expression of a 945bp amplification band in female trees and its absence in males. Results revealed that genetic material from cultivar samples am...

Determination of the Rate and Reasons of Blood Sample Rejection in the Pre-Analytical Phase in Ruhengeri, Rwanda: A Single Center Study

Background and objectives: All three phases of laboratory testing are equally important for improving total quality management, but the pre-analytical phase is the most error-prone. This study aimed to determine the rate and reasons for blood sample rejection in the pre-analytical phase of laboratory testing in a referral hospital in Ruhengeri, Rwanda. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional...
